For him. He was a stunning beautiful bouncing baby kitten. We loved and nutured him, Kenya grew quickly and reached 18 lbs by
10 months, Then the hardest choice I ever had to make was to find a loving home for him because he became too powerful for my little chihuahua's. And injured one of them that was only 2.2 lbs. We found the best home for him only 5 hours away with a wonderful family that had 2 other Savannahs, and one was even Kenya's half brother. We talked daily to Shelby and even sent Kenya toys. All was well until 2 weeks ago, When Shelby called me claiming Kenya was breathing very hard and she took him to the vet and he had fluid in his lungs. The took some fluid and sent it off for pathology. Needless to say it came back Blastic Lymphoma. Kenya was put to sleep 2 days laterat 17 months old.
We were all devestated but that is not the worst of it. Come to find out Kenya's littermate Cyrus died as well at around 10 months, of course from the same parents as well as a 10 month old brother Dumus from the same parents, same diagnosis. All relating to FELV. The breeder was notified immediatley and was fully aware of the other 2 cats being dead already, Kenya made number 3.
The husband claimed they knew they had a problem in the cattery when he called me screaming on the phone out of the blue. He was livid because one of the other victims called him and Manette and gave them a piece of her mind since she found out Kenya was dead and hers died 2 weeeks prior. He took his rage out on me, who lost Kenya 2 hours prior. HE REFUSED TO REFUND MY MONEY, even after admitting they knew they had issues in there cattery. They also refused to refund the other 2 owners whom now I know well. He did offer another kitten but who in there right mind would take another kitten from them. They are passing FELV all through there cattery and it is killing OUR cats. No way. They have not fixed these parents or fixed any of there cats up until today Jan. 12, and we are left grieving for our precious cats which whom were a part of our families. So many people crushed and in pain because of there losses and these people who thrive on greed and making a buck do nothing. Legal action is pending as well as TICA being notified of what is happening at this cattery. Beware. Beware. Beware
