UPS - United Parcel Service
Ripoff Discrimination in Services

I honestly believe that I am being discriminated against because of my demographic in some shape/form or fashion, by the United Parcel Service a.K.A. UPS.

I ordered a TV from Target.com on November 10th and they shipped the TV no problem to me. UPS "returned the package" to the to the Target.com without any of our (mine or Target's) permission or inquiry. And when I tracked the package via their online system, it really confused me: first it said "out for delivery" and another note said said that "I refused the package". This is extremely difficult to understand when I personally went to the local UPS facility that would receive the package and requested that I pick-up the package... And I was assured that I would be able to pick it up from the local facility on the following Monday. Baffled and a little upset I contacted Target.com and they assured me that they had in no wise asked that the package be returned or made any comments in regards to my order to UPS. So as a courtesy for my inconvenience, Target.com ships me another TV on November 25th and this time they upgraded the shipping from Ground to 2nd Day air. After this ordeal, I also filed a corporate complaint that they have yet to contact me about.

Now this package seemed to be going great... The package caught a flight to Miami and was driven to my local UPS facility in Lauderhill. The package was sent "out for delivery" to my house on November 27 @ 7:54am and then @ 9:18pm it was flagged for additional "security", here is the exact notes from the UPS website: "PKG DELAY-ADD'L SECURITY CHECK BY GOV'T OR OTHER AGENCY - BEYOND UPS CONTROL". So I called my local facility and asked to speak with security and I was told that they won't speak with me... After persistence they finally gave me a number that just keeps ringing and no one picks up the phone. This now caused me to worry what was going on, so I called the toll free UPS number and I was told 3 totally different reasons to what was going on: (1) there is a governmental hold on packages being delivered in my area (2) Target.com called and ask the package to be returned (3) UPS security flagged the package because I purchased the TV fraudulently! Yes, three UPS representatives said that I purchased the TV fraudulently (I even called several times to see if I could get a different answer, but UPS said I purchased this TV fraudulently).

Very pissed off at this point I call Target.com to see what is going on... And I was assured, by Michael Austen, Executive Guest Relations Representative - (509) 736-4810, that Target.com had not contacted UPS in any way in regards to my package and/or order and/or address. I have emails from Target.com's Guest Services stating that can verify that there isn't any fraud or illegal activity going on with my order.

So now both TV's have been returned to Target.com and UPS isn't providing any answers to me nor Target.com as in to what is going on. I have filed 2 corporate complaints and both have went unanswered. I have corresponded with a Supervisor (Maureen Sullivan - (404) 828-3700) today, December 5th, and after looking at the "corporate" system she said that target.com reported to UPS that the TV was purchased fraudulently! So immediately I got her name and number and told her that I would have Michael Austen from Target.com call her to clarify that this is a lie. Well Michael called her and explained to her that target.com had not contacted UPS to return the package nor flag it for fraud. So now I have left two messages on Maureen's voicemail to call me back and she has not done so as of yet. No one calls me back and clears this matter up with me, but UPS has closed both complaints as resolved. UPS has resolved both issues without corresponding with Target.com or myself.

In one of my calls to UPS, a customer service representative told me that sometimes, UPS may make a decision not to deliver a package based on certain demographics. Now I'm not sure what these demographics are, but is because I'm afro-American? I live in a low-income area? I don't know, but all I want is for UPS to not list me and my family in some relationship to fraud in their system that is preventing me from getting packages through them. This to me is demographic discrimination, if anything exists.

Can you help? I totally am pissed off about this and I am willing to do whatever necessary to follow this through!
