My company received a phone call from a man who claimed to be Sam Jones. He let us know that his company was going out of business and that they were selling off all of there inventory for really cheap.
We asked allot of questions, like; how much? For how many? Manufacturer? He gave us answers that we found out later were false. He gave us prices like. 99 per dozen for 3x3 post-its, $1.49 per dozen for Sharpie Markers etc.
He was asked a number of times if the prices he was quoting were correct. 99 per dozen? He said yes every time he was asked. And with free shipping, how could we lose.
Being a medium sized company we go through office supplies like crazy, so we bit. We issued a P.O. That was not included on any of the pakaging or packing slip. He was specifically told that the P.O. Number needed to be on all corrospondence. He said "no Problem".
When we received the supplies, we assumed that the company made a mistake, we had so much more then we had ordered. We didn't know that they were sending us everything in "GROSS". We were told per dozen, NOT GROSS.
I decided to send the company an email, I didn't have there email address. I did a search and found all of these reports about Supply Connection telling about very very similar issues.
We decided to call the company and ask for the invoice instead of waiting for "a Month". We had to leave a few messages before we were contacted back and finally recived the invoice via fax. To our astonishment and somewhat amusement, the invoice that should have been $65.44 turned out to be $8,975.52. Ha ha ha. This is not going to be paid for at all. I haven't had any of my 9 calls eturned as of yet.
I have contacted both the District Attorney of Los Angeles as well as the media. You may see this company and its owner in handcuffs or at the very least out of business very soon, along with the "sales people" (con-artists).
Go take a look at the BBB website as well, they have a number of complaints there as well, especially for a company that has been in business just over a year. I was thinking about some sort of Class action law suit as well!!! Just a thought!
