I got a call to a special invite for an talent/model "interview" with Ms. Nancy Hellyer-Harris. She agreed to manage my kids and would take 15% when she gets them work. She told us that the kids would need photos for comp cards and that we would be responsible for paying half of the $2400 cost (seemed high, but we trusted her coupled with the cost of future updates) and that she would pay the other half, $1200 for comp cards, head shots, etc. She insisted on using her own photographer, D. Harris Photography.
She claims the money is not going to her, but to the photographer. We believe that she actually co-endorced my check that I wrote to D. Harris Photography as Joan Helleyer, futher adding to my suspicion.
After 5 months of calling and prodding, we never received any promised photos or comp cards. We also never heard from Nancy again.
We filed a civil lawsuit against the photographer, D. Harris Photography. We won the civil action since they never showed up, even though we had an air-tight case... We paid for something that we never received.
The challenge now will be if they pay!!!
