I went into foley's with my daughter-in-law.
I purshased a pant suit and a pair of sandals for her, and two suits for my grandson.
I paid with a credit card.
The saleslady asked if I wanted to apply for a credit card. I declined, and finished paying with my credit card.
She was rather insistant about my getting a foley's credit card, and I thought "Why not", so I said yes, and she said she needed my credit card for information, and i gave it to her, and filled out the application, and left.
I received nothing from foley's, until 3 months later, when I got a very nasty phone call demanding immediate payment for an overdue balance.
I had forgotten even applting for the card.
I looked up my bank ststement, and there was the debit for that amount for the purcheas.
I called their credit department phone number. And after 8 attempts, and being forwarded all over the place pushing numbers as I was told to, I finally was able top speak to a human being.
I explained the situation, was given a fax number and a name to send a copy of my bank statement to.
I explained it was a big inconvenience to me, as I am disabled and most times cannot get out of my house to run errands, and I did not have a fax at home, so i would have to go out to do it.
It was a week before I could get out to do it.
They didn't get it or someone has no brains and cannot take care of anything.
The upshot of the situation is, after 9 months of nasty phone calls and several numbers and names of supposedly credit managers, to send copies to. I told them to go to hell, and I wasn't playing their silly games anymore.
I had received ststements crediting me with payments, adding late charges, all sorts of silly stuff.
I never made a payment. I don't pay for something twice.
I finally told them to send me a copy of every statement they had sent me, since they dened any discrepency on any statement.
I received an envelope full of ststements for every month sinvce the purcheas. The last amount, which was after the credits for payments I didn't make, and late charges that shouldn;'t have been, since I had never purchased anything on that account, and had not been to the store for over a year before that purchase, not since that one purchase.
All the atatements in that envelope showed the original purchase at the new amount, as if that were the amount of the purcheas, no records of payments or late charges, just that one amount, on every statement.
That was when I told them to go to hell.
I will have no further contact with them, and if they turn in a bad credit report on me, I will sue the hell out of them.
I have not been in their store since, and will never buy anything from them again.
The only other problem I ever had with a credit card was in 1956, when I had an account with foley's in houston.
Every month, I got a bill for all purchases made that month, and paid it immediately. Then 2 weeks later would get a nasty letter demanding payment. I would have to get dressed and take my cancelled check down to the store and prove to them it had been paid, and had cl;eared my bank.
I did that for 6 months and closed the account and did no more business with their store.
They bought the Josky's stor4e in Irving, that I had shopped at for over 30 years. I made quite a few purchases there, and never had a problem, until I opened the account by applying for their card.
After 2 years, every once in a while, I get a call from their credit department.
I just tell them "I died, so you can't collect".
If Foleyt's ever files for bankruptcy, I will throw a champaign party.
