Jobfinders International (now called Wellington Burke, Ltd.)—
MISREPRESENTATION, DECEPTION and FRAUD!
21800 Oxnard St. Suite 470 Woodland Hills, CA
(818) 710-7828

You are an experienced professional who is out of work.
Learning this, I make you an offer.
You give me $5000., and in exchange I will:
1. Rewrite your resume
2. Give you a list of Internet employment sites like monster.com where you can look for jobs and send your resume
3. Provide you with an easily available list of companies that are in your line of work—I'll even print labels, then you can send your resume to these companies at an additional postage cost to you
4. I'll tell you to call all your old friends and associates and let them know you are available for work
5. If you get lucky and get a job offer as the result of your own efforts, I will give you advice on salary considerations

How about it? All that for $5000!

Clearly, you would laugh at such an offer.

However, instead of being direct with you as in the above example, I imply to you that I have numerous high paying positions available exclusively, numerous business contacts and want to represent you—you might just bite.

Just bring me the money and sign here. Don't bother reading the contract—it merely summarizes what I have relayed to you.

Last year, I was contacted by JobFinders International in Woodland Hills, Ca. Via email with their canned pitch.

That email pitch implied that they had a job waiting for me because of my executive background. I called them, tried to get some answers but was told that I must meet with Allen White, their Senior Vice President.

I went to their offices. I am of above-average intelligence and previously worked in an executive position with major corporations. After a 45-minute discussion, this is what I fully interpreted from the meeting:

1. Their company has incredible business and industry contacts.
2. Their company has numerous phenomenal jobs waiting to be filled.
3. They are there to make all of this happen—just for me.

At first, I was so excited that I was ready to hand them the
$6000.in advance they would be needing, as that was their model.

Instead, I spent a few days thinking about it.
Something just didn't seem right.
I knew for a fact that things were so bad in the economy
that many large corporations only had one or two jobs TOTAL
available in their entire corporation.
Yetthese major companies were coming to these people only?

Things just didn't add up.
My intuition told me not to do it.

A month later, I received this letter from Allen White with his signature on their company stationary.

Some time ago, we met to discuss your career situation.
For whatever reason we did not go forward to design and implement a job campaign for you although I thought you would be a highly successful candidate. Possibly, you acquired a position. If you did, and it isn't the ideal job, let me refresh your memory about JobFinders International, Inc.

We currently have a tremendous backlog of executive and professional job opportunities posted with our firm, and I felt confident in reviewing your background that one of these, or one of the new jobs being posted with us almost daily, would be a great fit for you.

Our staff contacts companies continuously to find the highest quality openings for our clients in the unpublished market. The response by these companies has been outstanding. We currently have over 1,500 well paying, stable positions as: CEO, President, VP, GM, COO, CFO, Controller, Division Manager, Plant Manager, IT and MIS Managers and on through line managers; as well as a variety of professional positions such as Engineer, Staff Attorney, RN, etc.

However, if you have accepted a position that you are very satisfied with, I would surely appreciate the courtesy of a telephone or e-mail response advising me of that fact. That will allow us to remove your resume from our database and direct our attention to those who are still in the job search mode.

But, if you are still seeking a position, you may want to take another look at the advantages that come when we work with you.

What does that letter say to you?
What does it say to the average person?

It says to me that they have top jobs available and waiting for their clients exclusively through their relationships with major companies.

It does not say that once you hand them the money and sign a contract, they will be giving you a list of job sites on the Internet to browse though yourself or hand you a list of company names and addresses from the yellow pages that you must contact yourself.

Not once during my initial meeting was I told of the true nature of their business.

It's called misrepresentation, fraud and deception.

I hope I have saved just one person from dealing with any of these Executive Marketing firms.
