The Pet Company
Selling sick puppies, Giardia outbreak in 7 locations Atlanta Georgia Douglasville, Corporate Office - New Windsor New York

On February the 26th I purchased a soft-coated wheaten terrier from "The Pet Company" located in the Arbor Place Mall. It was several days later that I realized something was not quite right with our new puppy.

I took the puppy who we refer to as "Rylee" to the vet and was informed that he had Giardia and tracheo bronchitis. Both of these conditions are contagioius to other animals and Giardia, an intestinal parasite is also transmittable to Humans. I had to take "Rylee" to the vet several times as his condition was not improving and he also suffered a seizure. All of this occurred within the two week warranty period that comes with their dogs. I sent letters and copies of vet bills to both the local office and the corporate office in New Windsor Connecticut requesting my vet bills be reimbursed and also expressing concern to the other animals in their care. I did not and have not received a response as to reimbursement of my vet bills. I gave the store approximately ten days to respond at which point I launched a formal investigation with the department of agriculture.

It is my understanding that "The Pet Company" knew they had a problem as early as January and chose to sell sick puppies endangering the health of the public.

Who knows how many animals lives have been saved and the consumer awareness that come from this. It is really sad to see what some companies will do to make a profit even if it means costing animals their lives and endangering the public.

I want this company to pay the vet bills incurred for treating my puppy and any and all medical bills to have my family tested and treated.

I believe they are accountable to the rest of the consumers they have put at risk and in the same situation as my family.

I would like to know of other individuals and animals that have been affected by their neglect.
