Recently I recieved and e-mail from the music club I joined, BMG, saying that if I ordered one cd now I could get three free. I decided that sounded like a decent deal. While adding cd's to my cart online i decided to edit my choices. There are save for later options in the cart. After seeing that three out of the four cd's I had chosen weren't even available for "specials" or as part of a free selection I decided I did not want these anymore. I selected the save for later box in my cart and pressed update.
A few minutes later I recieved two order conformation e-mails from BMG. They not only put two orders through but put one cd on both orders! I searched the entire site trying to find a way to cancel these orders. They totaled over $60.00!!! Nowhere in the website is there a way to cancel an unauthorized order.
So i tried to find a way to call them and straighten it out. The only means of contacting them available through the website is e-mail. There is no phone number anywhere! So, I e-mailed them and told them I did not want these orders and they better credit my account. The next day I checked and sure enough they went through my checking account! I called the bank who told me there was nothing they could do until it posted but if I called back the next day after it had posted they would file and affidavit with the company. They also suggested I call BMG. After my unsuccessful stop payment attempt I googled the BMG phone number, I finally found it, posted on someone's website.
So I called the company and explained the situation to them they told me that because the orders had been processed already there was nothing they could do. Then they told me that if I had called them the day before they could have cancelled it! I told the customer service rep. That maybe if they would put their phone number somewhere accessible I could have called. I also informed her that I had e-mailed the customer service people twice and saw no response. I plan on fullfilling my membership agreement and completely cancelling this account and never going back.
