On Sunday 01-22-06, I wnet in to Z Best MArket located on MAcon Road in Memphi, TN at 7:15 am to purchase gasoline for my car. I tried to use that credit card outside at the pump, but when I entered my Zip Code (not my PIN#) it said that I needed to see the cashier that zip code was incorrect.
I went inside and told the cashier what had happened and he said he would scan my card again. He scanned my card from behind the counter, told me to enter my zip code and when I did he said it was invalid. He said try it again, which I did and he said it was invalid again. I asked for my card back. Left the store and when around the corner to buy fuel.
The next day, I called my bank (which is located in North Carolina) and found three charges on my card that I did not make. One was for $40.00. $50.00 and $1.00. I spoke to customer service and they said the charges had been made at Z Best Marketin Memphis, TN. I told them what had happened and they stated that I needed to go back to the store and complain.
I went back to the store, spoke to the cashier on duty, he said they did not do that and I was mistaken. I left the store, called the Memphis City Police. They came out took a report and said they would investigate.
I have proof from my bank that my card was used (I never signed a receipt), but the store said my card was never used and now nothing is being done.
The police have asked me to take care of everything trough my bank that there is not much they can do or I should take the company to Small Claims Court.
