In September I was invited by Great Expectations to sign up as a member for their dating services. I asked, on the phone, with Sarah, how many African-American males were in their database. She indicated that for the age range of 35-45 there were 25% African American males in the Chicago area. When I met with Ondrea the next week for my initial consultation, I was told that there were 25% of 6,000 African American males for my age range between Chicago and Schaumburg. I told her that I didn't believe it and she went and confirmed it with Hallie at the front desk who had been there longer than her. I told her, if that is the case, then there were 1,500 eligible bachelors that I could meet and I signed up for a trial membership. When I met with Sean, the photographer, he confirmed that 25% of the 6,000 members were African American males between the two locations. HOWEVER, what I found to be the case was that there were only about 35 African American males in the age range of 25-50 between Chicago and Schaumburg! I addressed my concerns in a letter which went unanswered for over a month. They only addressed the issue once they were not able to charge my credit card which I placed a stop on. How they expect me to believe that I will pay for a service that they have grossly misrepresented, I'll never know!
