This company also does business as Kiss Long Distance (www.kissld.com). I cancelled my local telephone service with this company in April. They continue to re-open my old account each month and try to bill me.
I've called dozens of times and talked to several managers... All of whom said that they will take care of the problem. I was told to ignore the monthly letters threatening collection. I was told that I should have them remove my credit card from their files so that they would stop automatically billing me (I would have to call each month and have them credit the invalid charges back to my credit card until they removed the card from their file). I was told repeatedly by different managers that they would have someone in the billing department call me. Nobody ever did. They said it's a bug in their system that keeps re-activating my account each month.
I have faxed a copy of my Verizon bill to them showing the removal of Covista in April numerous times. Last year, I talked to a manager named 'Mr. Victor Miller' on 3/1/05 and 5/11/05. I talked to a different manager on 8/30/04 and a couple other managers on different dates before that. I sent several emails to different departments requesting the account be cancelled and removed from their system. Countless calls were made to customer service people for the 10 months following my cancellation of service to have credits applied back to my credit card. I had Mr. Miller send me a letter stating that I have a $0 balance as of 3/2/05 and that I have no further financial obligation with Covista.
Today I received a letter from a collection agency on behalf of Covista looking to recoup new charges on my account! Now Covista won't talk to me and Mr. Miller is no longer with the company. These people need to sort things out and ERASE ME FROM THEIR SYSTEM ONCE AND FOR ALL.
