Aarons Rosey Rentals L.P. Ripoff unprofesional dishonest

I recently (on August 15) went into an Aarons rental store to check on renting a Dell computer. Being aware of Dell quality I was surprised to see that I could purchase one rent to own for a low price of $100.00 a month. Never having dealt with Aarons before, I did not know I had to list my life history on the application and after an hour. Closer to two, waiting and watching them call my references, I was approved for a Dell computer purchase. Not realizing what I was taking home, was a used, file packed, slower than my '98 model Gateway unworthy computer.

First problem after getting it home and getting it set up myself was finding out that there was so many unnecessary previous owner programs' loaded on my "used" not "new" computer. After taking a look at my Aarons sales lease again, I realized that I had signed myself to an agreement for a "used" computer. I slid in my internet providers' disk and loaded my internet onto my computer. While setting this up, I found a problem with the modem. Having a little knowledge of computers, I tried modem helper, which is a help option with Dell on the computer. This led me to have to reseat my modem. After trying again, still no luck, I called Dell to find the modem was just bad. This being on the same day I purchased it, I was upset that I would have to wait for Dell to send me a new modem.

So I loaded up the tower, drove back to Aarons and asked them politely to make it right. Being kind-hearted as I am, I was fine with taking home a different tower. Busy as my life is, I had no time until the next day to set the new tower up. After getting the tower plugged up and the computer on and windows came up a fatal execution error message popped up right away. This really got under my skin. So I went ahead and called Dell. This time Dell informed me that I was dealing with a software problem. So I called Aarons. The lady sales person I spoke with, and which I had just previously dealt with in person told me it was something I had done.

Not having to be a rocket scientist to plug in color coded cords, I was very upset and demanded someone from Aarons to come to my home and reboot my computer. The lady told me that a delivery person could be here within an hour or so. Me having a previous appointment, exclaimed to her that I should not have to wait, but, once again, being the kind-hearted person I am, the lady told me she would have someone at my house the following day between 11:00 A.M. And 3:00 P.M. So another day goes by staring at my useless Dell computer.

At 2:00 P.M. The next day, I called Aarons back concerned why I had not seen anyone yet to fix this computer. The sales person that I talked to tells me that noone can come out before 6:00 P.M. Making it impossible for me to be so understanding anymore. I demand at that time, that someone come to my house and fix this computer or I will bring it back and get my money back. The lady says she will call me back in 2 minutes. 30 minutes later, as I almost pick up the phone to call Aarons back she calls and says someone will be there in 45 minutes or less.

2 hours later, an Aarons truck shows up. The guy gets out, looking like he just put out a joint, comes in sets down at the computer looking at the error message, and asks me what my problem seems to be! He fiddled and messed for about an hour or an hour and half shutting down and re-starting the computer, acting as if he knew what he was doing. Then he gets up and says "if you have anymore trouble, just bring it back to the store." 2 minutes after he leaves, I realize, that he did not do anything to the computer and I had decided to speak to Dell customer service about the service or lack thereof of their products leased through Aarons. After finding out that my computer had been originally purchased by Aarons 2 years ago, I was beyond upset then!

I went to Aarons and demanded to speak to a manager. I explained the situation at hand and I made it clear that I was either leaving Aarons with my money back or they would compensate me and give me a brand new computer. The manager then said sure at only $27.00 more a month. So the next day, I returned the piece of shit that I had and the manager himself loaded in my car what was supposed to be a new computer.

After getting home and finding I had no power cords for the monitor or tower, my blood pressure went through the roof. I called Aarons and talked to the manager and told him what he had done and he said that I could either come and pick the cords up which is a 30 minute drive from my house ($3.00 a gallon for gas) or go to a radio shack or somewhere and purchase them and get reimbursed from Aarons. Living in the rural area that I do, I explained that 1. It's not my place to have to go shop for equipment that should have been supplied. 2. I should not have to drive 30 minutes back to Aarons because of his mistake. 3. The manager was as rude and unprofessional as he could have been, especially under the circumstances.

At this moment in time, I am still trying to decide whether or not I will make another payment. So with my first $100.00 payment and $50.00 in gas (enough for 1/2 of my second payment) I have enjoyed 2 days use out of my new Dell Computer. And my advice to anyone that reads this DON'T SHOP AT AARONS!
