I signed up with Columbia House using one of those services that say "subscribe to 2 of our sponsors and get a free vacume". According to Columbia House, they have different web pages based on who directed you there. When I signed up, there must have been a check box that said I agreed to share my info with their partners (I never leave these boxes checked because I don't want a bunch of spam, but either I missed one or Columbia House just didn't give a damn and gave out my information anyway). When I subscribed to Columbia House, apparently they also auto-subscribed me to MovieClubOnline.com. This company charged me $24 immediately, $24 a month later, and $24 3 months after that. I also got hit with a $1.50 fee for some reason.
It's my fault I didn't catch this immediately, but I thought it was actually Columbia House charging me for the 9 movies I just bought at a discount. Now, I've tried over 30 times to call MovieClubOnline.com and have only gotten through once. When I complained and said I never subscribed to their service, wanted my money back, and wanted to talk to their manager, they placed me on hold for 30 minutes before I gave up. That was 2 days ago. Now their system just keeps saying everyone is busy and to call back later. Their web page is going up and down. I've been able to get into their voicemail system, but all the managers' voicemail boxes are full (not a good sign).
