I have been battling AT&T for a cell phone I never had since 2001. I called from the first bill I recieved ($1400 with $500 past due). They told me they could not take the bill out of my name until it was paid up. I kept disputing it but I was in the middle of buying a house and did not want my credit destroyed so I paid $500 of the bill to get the phone turned off. The next month I recieved another bill and I called them again. This time they wanted me to pay a $175 termination fee. I told them this was not my phone and never has been. The jerk on the other end informed me very sarcastically
that since I paid the bill, I took responsibility for it and I should read my contract. At this time I was furious and yelled that I did not have a contract because it was never my phone. To make a long story short. Not only do I have one AT&T cell phone bill, they opened another account in my name. This has all been sent to Pallisades collection. I have disputed this with all 3 credit bureaus as I have seen suggested on this web site. The debts come off but then they go right back on with a new updated date the month they put it back on and they keep pulling my credit report. Other than this fraudulent account, I have perfect credit. I am at a loss. Count me in on any class action law suit and I will be looking into attorneys here in California.
