Associated my name with the previous resident through no fault of my own and now will not turn on my service until i pay her bill. Lied, was deceptive, terrible coustomer service, refused to file complaint on individual responsible

Sbc started calling my number, just turn on 7/1 asking for shannon, did not identify themselves at all. Repeatedly called. I would tell them no she is not here, no she does not live here.

I then receianved a letter from SBC saying that they had investigated the previus tenant to seee if she still lived there and had found that she did and whom ever i was had just changed over the service to my name and were committing fruad by doiig so and the bill as to be payed before the service would be turned on at this location.

I contacted sbc to work this out. I was told that there must have been some identity theft form the person that lived there before me. I told them that i didn't knoe the address existed a month ago that was impossible. She siad she would have a super call me at work to disucss this.

I called again the next day the rep stated that they would not turn any service on at this location for anyone until this bill was paid. I asked so even though i have never met this person in my life and just moved in i an resposible for her bill? She said yes.

The super called home. I called her again the next day. She then staed that the investigator had been calling me and had documented that she had contact the new number and spoke to someone whom refused ti identify her self. This was entirely untrue and had the investigator idetified her self i would have disclose all the information she needed. I did not realize who the person was i though it was a wrong number.

I was then told that i would need have my landlord call and send in three bills to verify that i had just moved in. I asked that a complaint be filed. The super staed that the investigator maybe didn't here me correctly when she documneted what was said by me. I said that she had and wanted her corrected.

Super assured me that everything would be corrected when i sent in the verfification. I said i understood this but wanted her reprimanded. She again reisted stated that she would personally go over the information after i verified that i had just moved in. She finally after repeaded promts agree to document on my account what i had said.

Now. This was completed 7/4 and today 7/12 i still do not have phone service. Today i fax in my rental agreement and my untility bill my self.

On top of all this my service was not turned of at my previuos address and i was bill for another month. I was also told that i could habe second line by the wirirng needed to be checked out first and was billed for a month for that as well. I do not know how i woulsd know that my house is not wired for two lines unless i were an electrician or something, unless they were to tell me.
