Global Moving Express
Ripoff and scam, fraudulent billing of a so-called "deposit"

Global Moving Express mainly does its business online (red flag #1) and its representatives do a hard sell (red flag #2), and they insist on not sending a representative to do a personal quote (red flag #3).

After doing a rough online quote, they insisted on taking my credit card # before going any further. Mistake! When I did my research further, I found that Global Moving Express scammed another customer and took the deposit and ran with it, without provided the promised moving services.

I contacted them, politely saying I did not want to use Global Moving Express because I wanted to use someone else, saying I'd rather deal with a company that was willing to do a in-person quote and I did not want to use Global Moving Express.

At this point, the representative (Robert) got very very angry (not the tone of voice if you want to have any chance of keeping someone's business). He said he was going to charge me a "nonrefundable deposit" for his inconvenience, and I replied saying that his company took "deposits" from other customers before (not mentioning usacomplaints.com) and that I knew what he and his company were up to. At this point he hung up.

Unfortunately, the damage was done, and the credit card was charged, but I am in the process of disputing the charge with the card company, since I never signed any contract nor signed any card authorization form nor did I receive any services. It's the same if some stranger found your credit card and started to use it.

The charge coming from Global was from Jerusalem IL (that's literally what the credit card statement said). I couldn't find a Jerusalem in Illinois, so I think the IL is for ISRAEL!!! If I am wrong, someone please point this out. But if I am right, wow, what a scam.

Avoid this company at all costs. I could not find this company in the Yellow Pages, and their quotes are unrealistically low (red flag #4). Although consumers are basically at the mercy of the local agent, it is better to do the work of looking up the major moving companies in your area and calling them up for an in-person in-depth quote. The quotes should be roughly about the same, and it is better to pay the $ for (hopefully) a reputable mover rather than deal with companies that insist on doing their moving quotes online and enticing you with unrealistically low quotes.

Doing the FCMSA search at (link deleted - see below)
and typing in Global Moving Express (Syracuse, NY) gave me results showing that this company lists only 1 power unit (truck, that is) and 2 drivers. Not exactly the company that you want to use for an inter-state move. I bet they make their money by charging deposits and then reneging on the move, as some other customers have already found out. Basically, it looks to me that this company is a scam, a front for fraudulent activity.

Avoid the same mistakes and do your due diligence. Keep a lookout, as I won't be surprised if Global Moving Express decides to do a name change to avoid the increasing bad reputation.
