Sprint PCS
And their worthless china-doll"phones. Complete rip-off

My wife and I have a Sprint PCS family phone plan, which we signed up for in May of this year, which included four phones, four separate lines, etc. Their everyday family plan.

These phones that were included are Sanyo 7400 picture/video phones, $150.00 each at sign-up, that do everything but make you breakfast. When we purchased these phones, last week of May, we were told that these were the best phones on the planet by the salesman and that he personally uses this phone. We went ahead with the purchase of these phones because of his recommendations and from what I had researched on three other websites.

On Monday, July 17th my wife came home from three days in Savannah, GA and advised me that her phone was not working. Yesterday the 19th we took the phone to the local Sprint store and were advised by this same salesman that the phone had water damage and that we were going to have to purchase a new phone. I proceeded to ask the salesman if I needed to purchase a new battery or was I going to have to purchase an entire new phone.

Of course we need a whole new phone because once ANY water gets on this phone it's useless the salesman told me. I proceeded to tell him that we had not gotten this phone in any situations where the phone would have gotten wet, i.E. We didn't have any rain storms (haven't in the last 3 weeks), we didn't accidentally spill anything on the phone, etc.

The rocket scientist then tells me that maybe I took the phone into the shower with me, and that humidity will also ruin the phone. My wife and I looked at him like he had three heads and asked do you take your phone in the shower with you? I asked him if this phone was that fragile that I could not take it outside when there is humidity present and his words were in essence, yes. What kind of crappy phone is it that you cannot even take the thing outside in the summer months without worrying that you are doing irreparable harm to it?

The salesman said he would talk to his manager and see what kind of deal he could give me on a new phone for my wife. He came back a few minutes later and said that I could purchase the same phone that I had for $200.00, as long as I extended my agreement for another two years. This was a great deal because I had been such a long and upstanding customer. I tried to tell him that when we purchased the plan the phones were only $150 and if we were such great customer why did we have to pay an extra $50 for it.

No answer. When I asked him once again why this phone was so fragile that I cannot even take it outside, he bellowed this is the best phone made and I have the exact phone, now were trying to be reasonable here!

Now I understand that I did not purchase their monthly breakage plan and this falls on my shoulders somewhat. I am all for personal responsibility as I am sure you can attest to by my responses to other peoples complaints on this wonderful site.

What I cannot fathom, is that if these phones are so fragile, and they are only going to work for less than two months under VERY NORMAL conditions, why in the hell are they even selling them. Is it so I can come in every few months and purchase another one? Probably not, but something is wrong when a company treats their great customers this way and sells an inferior product at jacked-up prices.

I advised the salesman that I would have to seriously think about his great offer and that I was thinking maybe it was best that I terminate my plan with them ($150.00 per phone) and go across the street to T-Mobile. I have used them in the past and their phones work worldwide when I travel and the plans have come down to a very reasonable price.

Am I being unreasonable and unrealistic to think that this phone should have lasted more than two months before I had to replace it? I mean if I am going to shower with my phone (what a moron) I want a good phone that is going to last

Thanks for any responses.
