About a week ago my wife got a phone call at work. When she answered the phone the lady said that she was from GC Services and her name was Nikki. My wife couldn't talk to her right then so Nikki gave her an 800 # (1-888-798-4993) and was told to call by Monday before 9 P.M.
Not knowing what GC Services was I told her to go ahead and call back, it was about her defaulted student loans. They immediately demanded full payment of the $15758.94 as if we had it. I got hurt at work back in 2001 and have not yet been able to return, thank God that my wife is so understanding she now she has all the pressure of being the main money maker, and what I get from comp isn't even of what my earnings were.
We tried to tell Nikki that we couldn't afford much but we could afford say $50.00 per month, she immediately starting going off on my wife I don't know who the hell she thought she was, but by this time I was raging with fury, my wife was bawling from some of the things that Nikki was saying to her, like we'll take half of your months wages if you don't give us your bank account number right now, then well see if you can feed your baby! Like I told Nikki yeah like that's going to happen!
She then asked my wife for a financial statement over the phone so my wife provided it, when we figured it we had almost $200.00 more going out then what we have coming in. When GC Services figured it they said that we have almost $300.00 that we don't use every month, me trying to figure out how they came up with that amount with a family of three and making a whopping $21,672 a year asked GC Services how in the world they came up with that, their answer: we based your pay on a 31day month I don't know about the rest of the country but my wife does not get paid for her days off and not every month has 31 days (maybe the employees at GC Services need to learn how to count).
Nikki also stated that she needed two or more references and that she had it in her authority to call my wives work place when ever she deemed appropriate, now I don't know about some work places but where my wife works is getting pretty mad about her getting so many phone calls. Does GC Services not understand that if they keep calling her at work she's apt to get fired?
When I got my wife calmed down enough to speak to Nikki she told her that we could manage $50.00 a month (although we really can't, but if it makes them stop calling and harassing my wife at work and home. So be it). We'll manage to pay that $50.00! W
Ell Nikki then proceeded to tell my wife that the $50.00 was not at all acceptable and that we had to pay $160.00 every week or it would be garnished from her paycheck! Why would they not accept the $50.00 a month? We're not trying to get out of the debt just trying to take what little money we have and make it stretch as far as possible, but they want to make it so where we have to go get on welfare I guess!
Any how they'll either accept a money order of $50.00 a month (I will not allow a check to be sent to them, I may be a fool but not an ignorant fool! That would give them the account number to our checking account) or they can return it and we'll keep it for our records that it was denied. One word of advice to GC Services:
Treat each person with the respect and kindness that you would show your own mother or father and quit being rude to every one and trying to intimidate them into giving you their account numbers!
