I am an ex - employee of this national dating service. I was so excited in the beginning to work for this company. I was told I would make thousands of dollars helping great people find love. Commission was ten percent after the 90 day orientation period. Programs were expensive (4-6 thousand) My "training" consisted of watching the director "Amy" sell memberships.
The director was wonderful the first week, she allowed me to follow her around and call her at home. Despite my limited training, I was to start selling the next week. The clients I was "allowed" to meet with were ones that didn't meet her approval (non caucasian, young, old or had little money). Yes, she was a disgusting racist as well. The company was faxed profiles of prospective clients including their income, ethnicity and credit card information.
I quickly learned that this business was incredibly shady. We were supposed to tell members that there were hundreds of members in their age group and area when in reality there were maybe 30. Prospective members were often shown profiles of good looking members that were either no longer available or whose membership had expired. Our "carefully screened" members often had drunk driving records or domestic assault but as long as they paid the fee my director turned a blind cheek.
Even though I ended up being a good sales person, "Amy's" true personality came out my second week of the job. She started literally ignoring me or berating me when i didn't understand paperwork instead of explaining it to me. I eventually found out that this particular branch never had health insurance. I was shocked because I was told that I would have benefits after 90 days. Things started getting worse.
The abuse I was recieving from "Amy" was getting to me.
Corporate had no interest in my complaints, this branch had a high turnover because of this woman but she made tons of money for the company so they didn't care,
I was on salary and had a guarantee of 2500 a month but of course corporate and the director decided to take 200 dollars out of my last paycheck when I left. The last two remaining employees are currently searching for new jobs. Prospective members and future employees be warned!!!
