Mike G. Smith - Kathryn M. Smith Aka The Shire Farms Aka Blue Ridge Outfitters Aka Dixie Horseman Tran Grossly misrepresented a horse advertised on Dreamhorse.com Auction bought green horses sold as totally broke family trailmasters ripoff

I bought a horse from Kathryn Smith advertised on Dreamhorse.com as a 15 hd. 1150 lb. Totally broke Quarter Horse. He was advertised as suitable for a kid/beginner being able to neck rein, do roll backs, stop on a dime, etc. He supossedly was used extensively as a lesson horse.

We paid $2950 plus $960 to ship to CA. What we got was a 13.3 hd. 847 lb. Pony that was totally green broke... No training at all. He wasn't even the same horse advertised in the picture. After doing some searching I found many, many other people who have been taken by Mike and Kathryn Smith. We suspect this husband/wife team of buying auction horses by the trailer full and reselling them a few days later as totally broke, kid/family, "perfect horses.

The Smiths have gone by alias's, different farm names, used many towns/cities and various accounts to advetise. They also use and change phone (cell) numbers constantly. We also suspect them of drugging these horses before sales as the animals personalities change drastically once they are with the new owner.

I have gone through all the legal channels to no avail. Because it is considered a legal matter law enforment can't do anything. Small claims is out of the question as I live in CA. Myself and another women have hired an equine attorney out of Raleigh and filed a lawsuit. I also posted several warnings and have heard from many others who have been ripped off by these people, including a women with a handicapped child that Kathryn Smith sold a horse to as "kid safe".

The Smiths have now hired a bankruptcy lawyer and have filed individually: Mike Smith filed Ch. 13 and his wife filed Ch. 7. It doesn't look like we will be getting our money back but they continue to advetise on Equine.com as well as another webpage: theshirefarms.com How can these individuals use the internet as a vehicle to sell these misrepresented horses yet be totally protected by the bankruptcy courts? These people need to be stopped before someone else loses their money or their life on these green, unbroke horses.
