I purchased two horses from the Shire Farms from an ad placed on equine.com by Katherine Smith. She advertised these horses to be kid friendly, anyone can ride type horses. Not only that but one horse was supposed to be 10 years old, however, it is 20 years old (big difference). One horse was supposed to be 14.3 hh and 1200 lbs and she is barely 14 hh and is 900 lbs at best. The other horse was supposed to be 1000 lbs and came at barely 750 lbs and ribs and hip bones were showing - she was in really bad shape.
I had a professional trainer evaluate them and he said that not only were the attributes these horses were supposed to have exaggerated but not existent. They are most definitely no wear near beginner horses. The Smiths refused to refund my money and have ignored letters from my attorney. Mrs. Smith promised me on several telephone conversations that these horses were safe for myself and my 8 year old son with cerebral palsy. She knew that I was looking for something for him to ride as therapy.
