1 Set Price ripoff In breach of contract, but refused re-payment. We have useless cards, we're still paying off the loan, and we feel stuck

I wish I had found this website a year ago. I signed up with One Set Price in September along with my husband (who was my fiance at the time). We thought that this opportunity would really help us with our wedding plans and at the time neither of us had a full time job, so we would have the time to sell our cards and long distance services. We really thought that we could use the cards as fundraising for churches and other organizations we are involved with. So, we signed the contract and then the fun began.

Our first problem was coming up with the funding that they absolutely had to have by a specific date, even though our contact, Jackie, the french woman from Arizona, said that we could take our time. Every day our "coach" would call and ask if we had the money yet and kept giving suggestions on how to do that. This personal coach changed names at least six times, so we had to keep explaining our difficulties over and over again.

Then, in the process of finding funding our business contact reps showed up in our area. They were supposed to find us 5 businesses that would sell our cards. This was in early October. We were not allowed to know what businesses we had until we paid our balance. This later became another problem.

We were finally able to take out a loan in my father's name to pay our balance about a week after our meeting with the business reps. I believe we were exactly on time with our payment, which was due 30 days from signing the contract. (All the dates are on file at home, I'm writing this at work.)

After payment they have 45 days to get us our merchandise. They sent it, but they sent us the wrong shipment and we had to return it. We didn't have any cards to sell until January of '03. This is when we really wanted to quit, but we decided to try the business anyway. If only we knew...

We only had four businesses that were operational by the time we actually got our contacts and our cards to sell. Two refused to sell our cards and said that they never heard from us and so were now selling other cards. One business only spoke Spanish and we had no way to communicate with them, plus they sold porn, which was a problem for us. So we ended up with one viable business to sell our cards.

We started to notice that our coaches stopped calling us after the money was paid. I called and emailed those I had been in contact with before, but they were either not there or not employed by Onesetprice anymore. So, I stopped trying to call. No one could help us about our businesses because that department "no longer existed" in January.

Our one business sold 40 cards. Two got recharged. We received a check. We were happy for awhile. None of the other cards ever got recharged. We tried getting someone to use them to fundraise. No deal. We decided to sell some at the flea market. No one wanted them. We couldn't even give them away.By this time, we were both working our tails off to pay back the loan and had very little spare time to sell cards.

We thought about asking for our money back. The contract said that if Onesetprice did not do what they were supposed to we could get our money back as long as we sent notice a year from signing the contract. We thought that we would try a little longer, since we had until September to send such a letter.

Then, it happened. We had received a $2.65 check for a phone card that we had been using and had recharged. It bounced. Not only did it bounce, but it caused us to have a $10 fee applied to our account. That's when we decided to send our letter.

We sent the letter just in time to meet our deadline to be within the year of the contract signing. We were sent a reply saying that they would send us to Florida to be trained if we were having problems with the business. They claimed that we had received our shipment on time, which we had not, that we never replied to our coaches, which we had, and I'm not even sure he addressed the fact that we had been given business contacts that didn't exist. They were in breach of contract, but blamed us for the problems.

When we got the letter, I wish I had done more research because apparently they were being investigated at that point. I just got mad and sat around until a month ago, continueing to make payments on the loan and just thinking that we were the problem.

Then we decided to do something with the cards. We thought that we could give them to the military in the US so they could call home. We would just donate all of them. We had to make sure they were still good, so we tried checking the website. It didn't exist. We googled searched and found our way to this site.

We don't know what to do. We have useless cards, we're still paying off the loan, and we feel stuck. If its possible, we would like to get in on any lawsuits. We're going to try to find a lawyer and get some money back. I doubt that there's any out there. We've all been royally screwed.
