I rented a storage space (10X10) from Public Storage from Barry Plotkin (Mgr.) 00504/Belmont/Dairy Lane, with an extended lease agreement for long term to get advertised discount. On the day after I rented a U-Haul truck to make the move, access was denied at the gate.
My contract was brand new, paid. I called Belmont Police; they said to come back with a truck to move out and hire an attorney. After several calls the police got Mr. Barry plotkin to let me view my unit, at this time I called the police again to file a burglary report. Which was not done.
The unit was ransacked, the rollup door all the way open and almost everything I owned thrown outside in a huge mangled mess. The manager had reported earlier that day he had secured my unit with his own lock, and in the same respect said this mess is how he had found it in the A.M. Earlier the same day and he had a picture of it, being impossible because this is a rollup type door which cannot be closed with anything in the doorway.
Thus is an outright lie. During the time he would not let me on the property, is when this thievery had to have happened. He told the police I was being evicted, for which I had no notice.
Bottom line is this individual has had several other occourances of this type. I was scared into trying to save what I could by being dumb enough not to know my legal rights. Due to this now all of my belongings were now left outside in the following rains. I have been devastated by this. He sent me a note saying I was being evicted due to his determination that I was a nuisance (which is supposed to be backed by some kind of police statement to the same, which never existed to my knowledge. I cannot even find any body of law pertaining to these types of leases.
