MCI is a BIG Ripoff for collect calls my son broke down in NE and called collect told me to call him back so the call lasted maybe 30 seconds they billed me for 2 minutes at $9.00 then he called for 16 minutes and they billed me 26.00, They know how high they bill you because they actually call you from their HIGH TOLL DIVISION to tell you what your bill is going to be and ask you if you are going to pay it.
They also hold a lot of state contracts with Department of Corrections so they can bill families anything they want for a 15 MINUTE CALL, 1 call from FL to WY for 15 minutes is $19.45 This is an outrage, most phone companies now offer unlimited long distance for a set price and if they can do that they can also lower the cost of incoming calls, It is set up that way to gouge people in need, people who may have an emergency or unable to call any other way then collect.
I also don't understand how they can do this I am a Qwest customer and when my son called he called through ATT, So MCI is holding us hostage with collect no matter who's our carrier.
