When I applied for a telemarketing position at West, I accidently made a mistake filling out the criminal history portion and indicated that I was convicted of a misdemeanor that I actually only had been charged with. It had been dismissed. I caught my mistake (which had been on a computerized application) and told the HR person I needed to go back in and change it because it was not accurate. She would not let me change it. She said they would not hire me with this misdemeanor conviction and they would keep it the way it was submitted.
If I would bring in proof from the county court that the charge had been dismissed they would not even change it but they would add that information to my application. I decided I did not want to work for any company that would not let you change inaccurate information on your own application.
Nuts to them! There are many companies who are fair to employees in their application process. This shows just how unreasonaable West is in their hiring practices!
