I have just finished reading the many reports on BH, who for the rest of my own story, will refer to as BS. Anyone who is considering the BS plan should read on and also read the many other reports on this site.
I moved to Canada from the UK early 2001 and sent my resumes off to various organisations. I was soon contacted by BS and a meeting was hastily organised between myself and one of their sales guys, who also happened to be a VP.
After the first meeting I was impressed. They also informed me that they would contact me to let me know if THEY wanted to move forward with any subsequent relationship. I received a phone call later that day letting me know that they would like to proceed. I was obvioulsy relieved that they did indeed wish to take me on as a client... A paying client at that.
Also, during the first meeting I was also informed, that should I be successful the second meeting would require the presence of my wife. I was slightly peturbed by this, as I was, until my arrival in Canada, the president of a UK consulting firm and felt that I had proceeded past the hand holding stage, nevertheless I agreed.
After the initial euphoria (being accepted as a BS client) a considerable amount of discussion took place between my wife and myself. We both came to the conclusion that something was not right, but decided we would still attend the second meeting to reaffirm our gut feeling.
We both arrived for our second meeting and were taken into the board room where a video presentation was provided. It was introduced, by the BS consultant, as a recent news feature. It was actually a paid advert, but the unsuspecting new recruits may well think they were watching a CBC news feature.
The meeting that followed was quite humourous but was very well orchestrated. They try and make you feel vulnerable but also praise your strenghts, in effect creating an image of an employment seeking roller coaster ride.
It never comes across as hard sell, but it is. They are using all the tricks in the book to get you to part with your money. Greed, fear, ego, the list goes on.
I asked on numerous occassions, "What am I getting for my money?". The answers the guy provided were at best, obscure. Reading between the lines you get nothing more than a contact name, a new resume and some basic common sense advice. So, nothing that you cannot find locally for free or thereabouts.
We left the meeting, signed no papers, paid no money and felt like we had just been to a Condo sales pitch. We were the lucky ones.
There are some postings on this site from people who claim that BS have provided them with the service they were promised. I am more likely to believe that the sales and marketing people at BS are behind these success stories.
Furthermore, why are BS not offering refunds, partial refunds or a change in their policies to avert future losses by unsuspecting clients?
In a recent article they pupport to help 20,000 clients per year.in the same article they admit that around 200 people, they know of, are unhappy. So why dont they refund the 1% that are unhappy?
There are alot of people in this world who do not want to work and then there are the others who actually get off their backside and do something about finding employment so they dont become a burden on society. The very people that are doing this have lost money at the hands of BS. To all of you that have, keep going, I am sure there will be light at the end of the tunnel.
