I took my daughter to the Build a Bear in Fair Oaks Mall, Fairfax, VA today. We walked in and there was a crowd of about 25 adults and children waiting at the stuffing station. I figured out it was because there was only 1 sales staff working the machine and about 5-6 other sales staff just walking around, not doing anything. I asked a sales girl if she could sit at the other end and work the stuffing machine so all the little kids wouldn't have to wait in the long line. Some of these kids were crying because they'd been waiting so long. The sales girl told me no she couldn't do that so I asked to see the manager on duty. Jordan was this manager and I've never experienced such a rude, inconsiderate and abusive situation before. When I asked nicely if she could put another associate on the other end of the stuffing machine, she wouldn't even look up at me and told me she didn't have anyone else. I pointed to 3 sales people just standing around within 5 feet of her. She refused to look at me and ignored me. I told her that there were children waiting in the line for way too long and it didn't make sense to make everyone wait. She simply ignored me. She said several rude and snide things to me and just wouldn't do what seemed the right thing to do. Then after I asked her for the customer service number so maybe they could talk some sense into her, she refused to give me a contact number and walked away rudely to the back of the store. When she returned 5 minutes later, the number she gave me was inaccurate. After I finally was placed with the customer service people in St. Louis she figured out she needed to put a sales associate on the other side and the lines went down immediately. Then, she proceeded to follow me around the store when I was talking to the customer service rep. My 7 year old daughter said that when she heard me tell the rep that she was incredibly rude, she said "Thank you!" I really doubt that this is the kind of person that Build a Bear wants representing them, much less as a Manager. We've been shopping at this store for 14 years and spent thousands of dollars there. But, unless the company can verify that they've spoken with this young woman about her bizarre and incompetent behavior, we will never go there again. Horrible experience... I've never dealt with any manager in any retail outlet that acts like this girl. If this was my company and an employee acted in this deplorable way, I'd get rid of them immediately. This is the first time I've ever had to post a negative review for any retail outlet or for any business, but the way that this manager, Jordan, treats Build a Bear customers is simply despicable! She needs to be spoken to and dealt with as soon as possible.
