Multiple attempts to cancel and given ridiculous renewal price

I have contacted Hearst/Food Network Magazine three times now regarding a renewal of their magazine for $44.97. I did not request this, nor have I received the magazine for months. The actual cost online to renew the magazine is $12.00/year, so why would I pay the cost they are asking me to remit? I've emailed and attempted to make payments online, and I either get no response or the site is having technical difficulties.
