We visited The Cheesecake Factory at 119th St in Overland Park, KS last night for a child's birthday. We arrived with 5 children and 3 adults. After we were seated, we perused the menus and ordered our drinks. At this time, I asked the server to place my order, along with my 3 children's, on a separate check. He explained that he would do this at check-out. After many minutes, he returned with our drinks and asked for our order. We asked for kid prices or 1/2 orders... And only then did he seek and find the kids menus... Mind you we had 5 kids and had stated we were here for a child's birthday. So... We once again looked over the menus and finally placed our order. Once again... I asked for separate checks and he said that he would figure that out later. Needless to say... My family eats light and drinks water while the other family ordered wine, specialty coffee and sodas. We ordered 2 cheesecake slices and kids meals while they ordered 3 cheesecake slices with their meals. At the conclusion of our meal, our checks were brought out. Our server simply replied something like "to make things easier on you, I split the bill in half... Since you had ordered similar things." I was dumbstruck. After I had requested separate checks TWICE, we were presented with this awkward situation. I paid instead of making a fuss... Which I now regret. Upon checking the menu prices online today, I see that I was charged about $15 more than I ordered. I am very disappointed. And no, we will not be visiting this Cheesecake Factory anytime in the near future.
