I had the misfortune to be involved in the film Shadow Island and have to endure this fraud calling himself a "director". Within two days he was obviously incompetent and all who looked upon him, knew.
Fortunately the DP/Director from NY - Carroll - stepped up at the Producers request and in conjunction with the Singapore DP, brought the film home.
As one of the many who have been in this industry for more than 40 years, it is very quickly apparent when someone is incompetent. Whilst there are still some outstanding issues on the film - it is presently in grading, had Jacob not been found out and his apparent inabilities, he also compounded the destruction of the film by pushing a power play with the co producer and 2nd Unit director to remove the Producer (who owned the copyright of the screenplay shot). That was resolved and al actors and crew contacted after they came back to allow the producer to finish the film.
Jacob was fired for his gross incompetence and interference in the progress of the film but many of the crew who remain unpaid now understand the issues were not at he hands of the Producer, but by Jacob. Arrangements have been made for payments and all will be cleared on release. The claim on his website of his ownership of photos is incorrect. These are all owned by the Producer. The only real photos he can use to try to build his bogus background.interesting a 'director' only has one set of photos from a career he claims spans decades. Laughable.
Anyone seeing this fools name on the internet - note on his website, http://robinjacob.com / try clicking on the link to Shadow Island - it immediately goes to a dumb site and does not allow you to open as the ink has been removed after being found out on IMdb, to be a fraud. You can also check out his link for a purported interview - which shows a pretty confused mind. Be warned. Avoid this guy who lives in dream land. A total waste of space - he could not direct his way to a toilet seat!
