Ashley McCormick goes back on her word. I chatted with her over the phone regarding her Terms of Service/Customer Agreement and voiced some concerns I had. Her TOS was poorly written, misleading, protected her to the fullest and left the customer hanging out to dry. If you read it in its entirety you will realize that:
1.) You remove all liability from the photographer for any bodily harm/injury/death that may occur by her or any part of her company. For as ludicrous as this may sound, according to her TOS, she could show up with a gang of criminals that are 'affiliated with her company', shoot up your wedding party and you would not be able to hold them liable.
2.) Ashley would have the right to NOT SHOOT the photos of your wedding FOR ANY GIVEN REASON. She could substitute another person in her place but no limits are given as to whom. She could have her cousin who is still in grade school show up and take the pictures and you could not hold her liable.
3.) Ashley reserves the right to NOT RELEASE ANY PHOTOS WHATSOEVER FOR ANY REASON. You know that $3,000 you spent on having her take a few hundred pictures? If she wants to, she could keep all the pictures and hand over ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to the paying customer. And guess what, you couldn't petition to get your money back according to her TOS.
I could go on and on. I voiced a multitude of concerns in a very polite and professional way over the phone. We both agreed that the TOS was complete crap and she gave me flexibility to modify it, send it to her, then have it approved by her. She even admitted to not ever having read it. It was one of those 'pre-made' standardized TOS agreements that she purchased from 'some other' company. How irresponsible. She kept imposing a strict and short deadline for this. I paid extra money to mail it to her (overnight or 2-day I can't remember). I then hear back from her after delivery of the modified TOS. She tells me she no longer feels comfortable doing any business with me labeling me as rude and unpleasant. Up until that point I was as pleasant as could be.
Ashley McCormick is a liar, a cheat, and a complete hack. I've known Ashley since high school and I was excited to do business with her. She was to take pictures for my sister's wedding (whom also has known her since High School) and she just dropped us without batting an eyelash. We were ready to seal the deal with my father scheduling a deposit drop-off the very next day but she cancelled all business relations with us the day before. I've kept all my email correspondance I had with her in case anyone wants to see how terrible she is as a business owner. Also, go ahead and check out her work on her website. Its semi-ameteur-ish at best. What do you do Ashley, run everything though a soft/blur-filter then label it as professional in quality? I have a friend who went to Ringling Museum of Arts who referred me to numerous young photographers who are either still in school or have just started their own business. They have competitive IF NOT BETTER pricing options and the pictures are PHENOMINAL! They are so much better than Ashley's. When you compare the two, Ashely's work is a complete hack, an utter disappointment. You can't just run a couple of cheap Photoshop filters and think your photos are professional. I'm sorry but a 10 year old can operate Photoshop and filters.
Steer clear of this one. She can't run a business at all and craps on the customer.
