I just thought I would share my happy success story with StubHub.
Last night, I saw Wilco in Pittsburgh at the Carnegie Music Hall. I bought 2 tickets on StubHub one week before the event. Immediately after I bought them I got nervous/curious and I looked up reviews of StubHub and read some terrible horror stories of scams and bad business. I was so freaked out and convinced that I would somehome get scammed— after all, the tickets I ordered were good seats to a sold out show, and I've always been told that if something seems too good to be true, it usually is. Anyhow, I ordered the tickets on a Friday. They were sent out on the following Monday and I received them on Tuesday (with overnight shipping). I was afraid that I would receive computer print-off tickets because I read about the scams of people selling multiple copies of the same tickets. To my pleasant surprise, I received 2 Ticketmaster tickets. I did a quick heat test to make sure the tickets weren't fake— (you simply hold a lighter to a corner of the underside. If the tickets are real, the opposite side of the ticket should turn black because the tickets are printed on heat sensitive paper). The tickets passed the test. Even though everything had worked out as planned, I was still a little nervous. I had read about another scam where the seller calls Ticketmaster and claims they lost their tickets. Then the first pair are invalidated and a new pair is sent to the original ticket buyer. Then the first set of invalid tickets can be sold online and the buyer won't know it until they get to the venue and their tickets are denied.
Well, now I am kicking myself for worrying so much. Not only did I get the tickets quickly and in a hard copy, we into the venue with no problems at all.in fact, we were happily surprised when we realized that our tickets were front row seats! We got Orchestra Row B tickets... And for some odd reason, there isn't a Row A.
We paid a little more for these tickets because it was last minute to a sold out show, but it wasn't unreasonable at all. Everything worked out perfectly.
I just warn others not to torture themselves before the concert wondering if their tickets are legitimate or not. Even if something were to go wrong, StubHub guarantees that they will find you seats to your event or refund your money. My nervousness about the whole process would be my only complaint! — and whose fault is that?
