I recieved a call from a girl claiming to work for Maverick Records. That is a record label that was owned by the Warner Music Group. I recieved an outline pinpointing what my recording contract would include.
There is also a line that says I would recieve a signing bonus of $500,000. I never signed anything, and never got to meet anyone in person, but that outline has an official Maverick Records logo on it, and the girl said her name was "Michelle". I was told that a contract would be written in a few days and I could sign asap.
After doing some homework of my own, I discovered that Maverick is no longer in business and has not been since 2006. I called the number listed, and the number is not inservice. I also called a variety of WB contact numbers and nobody would give me the time of day to help me understand what was going on. It's obvious that this was all nothing but a "ripoff" and I was making arrangements to live out what I've worked VERY hard for.
Somone went a great distance to really mess with my head and the hard work that I've put into my music. I've met with multiple labels in the last 3 years and all of them were more than professional. I can say that the Warner Music Group / Maverick Records are a nothing but ripoffs and liars.
