While attend an acting class in our VA. Studio, Ms mathis said she had a movie script she would like to see produced.
At the time we had to cancel a project we were working on because of the 9/11 incident. It would not fly in the face of 9/11 and current events.
We had spent much time and money developing our script, only to be taken close to bankruptcy. It was the perfect setup for someone with a fradulent spirit to move in on us.
She led us to believe that it was almost finished. We have found out that it was not truly represented to us and has caused us to work for nearly a year at much expense to us and many other people, for nothing.
She also represented to us that she was forming a legal company that all documentation could be verifyed through. We have found out that she has not done this either.
What has resulted is this. Over 50 people have worked for a year to put together a project based on Ms. Mathis representation of a script that is not hers alone and a company that does not exist. We are at the stage of obtaining money for production of this movie now and it cannot be done due to this illegal activity. We must first obtain releases from her and the co-author on all legal documents.
We know she copy-writed the script through the government copywrite office, illegally too as it turns out.
As of last week, she had an attorney write us with complaints that we did not honor the contractual agreements by not allowing her to have final say on any script changes. First of all it is always the director oof a movie project that has the final say. She was given opportunity to make changes.
This means she fraudently represented us to her attorny. We feel that it was her way of trying to cover for her many fradulent acts. I suppose this will take a bunch more money, which we don't have, to straighten out. We feel that if we had been told the truth in the first place we would not have fallen for the guise. She had many websites and it appeared tht all was ligit.
We have contacted many investors in regards to this fraud and feel thankful at this point that nobody has put up any money other then ourselves.
It still will be a point of embarrasment, when we have to explain all of this to them. We also have many actors from coast to coast waiting for this movie to start, believing that they are going to be in it.
At this point it looks hopeless, and it truly reflect very bad on our company.
