I've been using Mr. Handyman for years. They aren't the cheapest, but they aren't the most expensive either. And they do excellent work.
9 times out of 10 I describe by job and they tell me something like 3-4 hours and then the job takes around 2 to 2 1/2.
One time the job ran longer - but the tech stopped at about 30 minutes in, showed my wife what the issue was. I went home to see for myself and when I got there the owner of the company was also there - very impressed (I'd never met him or talked to him). We discussed options and decided to go ahead. The job was done by the end of the day and the tech took one hour off the bill because of the "down time" from when he first spoke to my wife to the time I decided to go ahead." I was curious as to whether or not they would charge me for that - from their point of view, the guy still had to be paid for his time, so I wasn't going to ask - but the tech literally INSISTED on the discount.
Now I use them for everything, have recommended them to all of my friends and have never heard a single complaint.
