And new filter is a lemon

I bought a hayward s210s filter from Leslie's on May 22. We had problems with our pool leaking water, but couldn't figure out why. Our pool is an older inground pool and we figured it was the plumbing not the brand new filter. When we opened up the 6 way we realized the gasket was corrupted. My husband took it back to Leslie's, but they would not just exchange the bad part, they made him repurchase the 6 way port. We hoped that would help, but with only a few weeks left of the season, there wasn't much time to test it out. This year when we opened our pool, everything seemed okay, until we noticed the top blowing off our new filter. When we had a pool service tech (from another company) look at the filter he said "no wonder, the neck of the filter is warped". After trying and failing to find our receipt we tried contacting Leslie's to see if they could help us. At this point we thought the manufacturer was to blame and we just wanted help from Leslie's to get the manufacturer to replace the filter. Leslie's manager had nothing to offer. He told me I needed to contact the manufacturer directly myself and that he couldn't find any record of my transaction (even though it is listed on my bank statment). I've tried contacting Hayward myself, but they won't do anything for me without the receipt. They told me to get a copy from Leslie's. Especially since the filter was manufactured in 2007 and we didn't purchase until 2010. Now I am stuck with an unusable pool filter (hence an unusable pool) for the entire season while I try to get help.
