We had a large tax return this year and decided to remodel our bathroom. Special ordered top of the line cabinets from the Owensboro KY, Menards (2 vanity and 2 linen cabinets) Briarwood collection. The spec on all literature dimensions were 21dx24wx84h. I specifically ask associate if these were largest dimensions because I was going to frame walls and ceiling around these. He said yes dimension given will be the largest. Over the next 4 months I spent nearly $8000 on this project all at Menards. The day finally came were everything was done except setting cabinets. So I picked them up and brought them home and instead of 21dx24wx84h they are actually 23x24x85 1/2!!! They won't fit. I talked with sales ass., manager, general manager and they all said same thing. Sorry that our dimensions are wrong. We believe we told you incorrectly because whats what our dimensions say and thats what we have been trained to say. But since you bought these on the 13% bath sales promotion program we can't do anything for you. So I am screwed and out $100's to redo everything I just did because their dimensions are wrong. Estimated at $800, I asked Manager Tim St. Louis to compensate me $5-600 or hire a contractor directly to make modifications but he refused. I am so furious but all they said is bring them back and we won't charge you a restocking fee or we can compensate you $200 for your troubles!!! After looking for similar top of the line cabinets there are none that fit. So now my choice is to use these menards cabinets and modify my walls and ceiling or get custom built cabinets. Either way I'm out around $1000 and have no bathroom for our guests coming in next week. This is the down right lowest and most unfair I have ever been treated at a retail store. Menards will not stand behind their product nor protect their customer that just spent $8000 at their store. Mr. St. Louis admitted they were at fault. I will never do business with them again. Next year I will be building a house so Menards has lost nearly $100,000 of business over $600. I just don't understand their philosophy but I guess I am glad to find that out now before spending big money at Menards.
