When I purchased 5 warranty policies from Colonial HOme Warranty, I mistakenly thought I would not have to worry about repairs for my home or my rental properties. Within the last year, Colonial has refused to repair an HVAC system based on poor mechanical advise from so-called technicians who advised me to replace the unit... Which was supposedly warranteed by Colonial! Long story short, It cost ME almmost $800 to repair the unit because Colonial refused to do it, plus the $90 for their two house calls.
Recently, my tenant reported noise coming from the dryer. Colonial refused to send someone because the dryer was still drying the clothes. Now the dryer is broken, and I have had to pay for the repair myself. What is the point of this warranty?
Finally, last year, the computor component for my oven died. Colonial did send a technician who said they would come back with the part the following week. Colonial refused this arrangement, insisting on sending me the necessary part from their so-called warehouse. Well, one month later, the part finally arrived and the technician returned to install it. What kind of service is that? What if it was a part for my air conditioner? I live in southern Arizona... Would I have to wait a month in 100 degree temps. For a part to arrive???
I am totally disgusted with this company. I had to place one of my tenants and her children in a hotel for 4 days because Colonial's technician did not have the part to fix their AC. Have I been reimbursed for that expense??? No!
