I am a 24 yr old single, unemployed, mother of one and I have been on welfare since I gave birth to my daughter which is too long for me. Now my problem is that this is a program designed to keep you hanging on a promise to get on your feet and to be able to provide for yourself and family when in all actuality they are not really concerned about those causes.
I am mearly a paycheck for the case workers involved in my case. I have been in the state's care every since I can remember and they have yet to help me get on my feet to be able to provide for me and my daughter. It is required by state law that I complete a work study program in order to keep recieving my TCA benifits and keep in mind that I am not employed, now I have been trying to get into a crediable program something that will leave a door open for me when I complete the program and I can't even get an appt. With the case manager responsible for this field of svc.
But they are continuiiously sending me notice after notice stating that if I don't get into a program immediately then my benefits will be terminated. Now where is the justice in that. I have been to this office numerous times and I have spoken to his supervisor numerous times.
No progress and I am truley afraid that if they cut the only income I have then I will be forced to take actions in my own hands because I don't know who else to contact about this problem that I am having.
Oh, and I know you are probably saying why don't you get a job. Well, other single mothers on welfare will probably understand when I say that it is truly hard to find a good crediable job that you can support your family on these days without a degree or a certificate of some sort. That's why I am trying so hard to get into thier work study program. I don't have the money or the resources to get myself into a school and truthfully I am tired of begging for handouts from people who just have their noses in the air and their asses on their shoulders!!!
