La Paz (EFE / DAY) Saturday 26, February JornadaNet APG The General of the Bolivian police René Sanabria Oropeza, former Force Commander of President Evo Morales drugs and now adviser to the Centre for Intelligence and Information Generation (Cigerin), Ministry of Government, was arrested in Panama along the city Marcelo Juan Foronda for drug trafficking, were officially reported.
The Bolivian Minister of Government, Sacha Llorenti, told a press conference that diplomats have confirmed the arrest of retired General and an alleged accomplice, John Foronda Marcelo Steel, who "has a history of drug trafficking."
Llorenti said Sanabria works at the Center for Intelligence and Information Generation and its Ministry traveled to Panama without notifying any authority.
The Minister said that Sanabria came Foronda on Thursday to Panama from the city of Santa Cruz in the company's flight Cup, the Central American country.
After capture in Panama, Bolivia anti-drug force stopped five other policemen are being investigated, said Llorenti, without giving further details of the case because the operations are still ongoing.
One source reported that the repatriation of Sanabria and Foronda to Bolivia was processed on Thursday, the day of his capture, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Panama.
The Minister said that "extreme efforts" to ensure that, no matter who they are linked to "drug ring" in the police, are arrested, prosecuted and punished.
"We are not interested in the degree (the General Sanabria), political party or the type of family. Cayó capo de Inteligencia del Ministerio de Gobierno por "nexos" con "narcos"
La Paz, (EFE/JORNADA) sábado 26, febrero 2011 JornadaNet APG El General de la Policía boliviana René Sanabria Oropeza, ex Comandante de la fuerza antidroga del Presidente Evo Morales y ahora asesor del Centro de Inteligencia y Generación de Información (Cigerin), del Ministerio de Gobierno, fue detenido en Panamá junto al ciudadano Marcelo Juan Foronda, por narcotráfico, se informó oficialmente.
El Ministro boliviano de Gobierno, Sacha Llorenti, dijo en una rueda de prensa que fuentes diplomáticas le han confirmado la detención del General en retiro y de un presunto cómplice, Marcelo Juan Foronda Acero, que "tiene antecedentes de narcotráfico".
Llorenti dijo que Sanabria trabaja en el Centro de Inteligencia y Generación de Información de su Ministerio y que viajó a Panamá sin informar a ninguna autoridad.
El Ministro añadió que Sanabria y Foronda salieron el jueves hacia Panamá desde la ciudad de Santa Cruz en vuelo de la compañía Copa, de ese país centroamericano.
Tras la captura en Panamá, la fuerza antidrogas detuvo en Bolivia a otros cinco policías que están siendo investigados, explicó Llorenti, sin dar más detalles del caso porque las operaciones aún están en curso.
Una fuente informó que la repatriación de Sanabria y Foronda a Bolivia fue tramitada el jueves, mismo día de su captura, a través del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Panamá.
El Ministro dijo que se "extremarán los esfuerzos" para garantizar que, sean quienes sean los que estén vinculados a "la red de narcotráfico" en la Policía, sean detenidos, procesados y sancionados penalmente.
"A nosotros no nos interesa el grado (del General Sanabria), el partido político o el tipo de familia. Si está involucrado con corrupción o narcotráfico será sancionado con todo el rigor de la Ley. En este caso, el Ministerio de Gobierno asumirá las acciones legales para allanar todos los sitios a solicitud de las autoridades panameñas para desbaratar esta red de narcotráfico", enfatizó Llorenti.
