The Village of Calumet Park is a useless, washed up, no count waste of space on the planet. I have lived in Calumet Park for 24 years and have never experienced the corruption that I have in the last few years. The village allowed a bar and carwash to move in to a residental area. The bar and carwash bring undesirable, loud filthy people and night and loud filthy people during the day. I have caught men urinating on my tree, garbage can, in the alley, on the light pole and against the buildings. The beer bottles are so numerous that my neighbor had to use a garbage bag the pick all of them up after one weekend.
My home was in a secluded quiet place where I did not have neighbors. Now with the business and the bar I am bothered day and night. I have gone to the village meeting to complain and am told by village trustee that I should talk to Geno (the owner of the bar and carwash) "he is a nice guy".
I have filed reports about how the added traffic will impact the alleyway and the report was given to Geno. I have called the police about the noise. I have talked to the police chief about the noise at 1:30 AM. I have contacted federal agencies. I have contacted the public works department. No one will listen!
The village officials including the police chief and mayor and are all good friends with Geno (money-wise). I as a resident do not matter because I only own a home and a quarter of an acre of land that I pay taxes on. I am and have been on the library board of Calumet Park for eleven years (an unpaid position). The schools are terrible, the trustees are paid off, the police department is useless, the fire department cannot keep a house from burning to the ground. Calumet Park is a waste of time and I am getting out as soon as I can.
