I think that most of the apartments this man rents are probably beautiful apartments but he is dishonest and treats renters like complete dirt. A whole lot of big talk and promises that he never delivered on. He could care less about the safety and comfort of his tenants. He entered my apartment unlawfully (without notice).
After entering, he often left my doors unlocked after leaving with the apartment unattended. He "remodeled" my apartment while I was on vacation without even informing me he was going to do so and damaged some of my personal property in the process (all he had to do is tell me he was going to do it and I would have moved my stuff). He thought I was crazy for getting upset.
He tried to keep a significant portion of my security deposit (which he did not place in an escrow account, as the law says he should) until I got the Illinois Tenants Union on the case. A message to future tenants: He will nickel and dime you for every thing he can, like charging you money to hang blinds in your apartment (which he will not allow you to do).
I had to break move out early to protect the safety of my property and myself. It is pretty sad when you prefer to pay the rent on a place that you are not living in rather than deal with the landlord. He must have been beat up as a child and is now taking it out on the world. Stay away from this man and his property. Consider yourself warned.
