NYC ARTS CYPHER also known as the place that Charlie B. Conned a bunch of artists to build for free in return for exposure and publicity, but where are those artists now? Every single one of the artists who started at the cypher left because charlie B is a lying scam artist.
How do I know this? Because I was a dancer for the cypher, I mean I was a dancer for charlie B for a pretty long time. Yea, Charlie got us to believe that if we perform whenever he tells us we have to for free, teach all of his bboy classes (that he would charge people for, but would keep the money) jump when he tells us, stay at the cypher all hours of the night even if we want to go home, clean the floors when he says to, ect, ect, ect... That he would get us exposure. I thought-wow, I would love exposure, but after a while what i started to realize is that, all the artists charlie promised exposure to-never got it, what all the artists were becoming was "Charlie B's artist, Charlie B's Model, Charlie B's bboy, Charlie B's MC" You get the hint. We would perform all over, like slaves, if we didnt do exactly what he would say, he would yell, i mean scream, i mean roid rage psycho tendencies, but as soon as anyone important was around he would hug us and say these are my bboys! You may all know him as the crazy guy who got married on True Life I'm getting married on mtv-that crazy guy who flipped out and yelled at the limo driver and threatened to gut him like a fish. Well he is really like that! I've personally witnessed him threaten peoples lives, beat up people, he beat up a guy who used to work at the cypher because there was a leak in the office, thats why he beat him up, and laughed about it and bragged about it and would tell everyone how he beat the sh*t outta him, then he lied and said it was self defense-yea ok the guy he beat up was like 100 pounds!
Charlie started the cypher with a girl named Fran, she was really nice, she is the one who really wanted to help us, she was the one with the vision and we all know that! But she even left, no one really knows why she left, but we all had our ideas. We were all rehearsing one night at the cypher when charlie went into a rage on Fran in the office, he started screaming then we heard a loud bang and he stormed out. We all ran into the office and fran was crying, he threw a desk chair at her. We foundout it had something to do with his girlfriend. Yes his girlfriend, and he's married. His wife is so stupid cuz everyone knows salinas his girlfriend. He also uses the cypher as a sex place for him and his girlfriend Salina, and whatever other girls he brings there to have sex with. And we all knew it because they would do it in the bathroom and the office while we were there.
So charlie became non profit, I don't know much about non profit, but i do know that you arent allowed to write up a proposal for a program that never even happens, buy hi definition cameras with money from a $10,000 grant, then start another company called Breakout (which is the name of the program he pretended to create for kids) but breakout is really a commercial and music video filming and editing company and he charges people alot of money... And the stupid city keeps giving him money and he keeps screwing the city and all the people involved.
So the cypher was started about 4 years ago, and I wasnt around when they started, and they talk about all the artists who were involved, but i never met one of them, not while i was at the cypher. That shoulda said something, cuz the only people who were still around were us dancers. I actually met a few ex members after i left and they all said the same thing, and people who i did know who left all said the same thing also, charlie is a slick, good talking scam artist with a big, friendly smile who can b.S. His way into or out of any situation, has good lawyers who gets him outta trouble every time he gets arrested for beating people up, i mean if I had a kid i wouldnt want them in charlies place. Please dont trust charlie when he says he's gonna give you exposure, don't trust him when he says "give me money and ill let you join my network", what network??? Dont believe that he will help you, and im not a disgruntled ex member, i am happy i left, im sure, actually i know there are plenty of people who can back me up on this. Now i am just trying to make sure that no other dancers or anyone gets scammed by charlie b the way i was, the way the old members were and the way the current members are.
