Unwanted early cancelation

I received a notice of extension of my subscription to Aug. I do not want an extension, so I called to cancel it, but the wonderful automatic phone svc (?) canceled everything. I enjoy the magazine, and I would like to continue at least through Aug which is my original subscription. HELP!

P.S. I do not want automatic renewal!
