Originated from phone number (951) 347-1882 [California Number]
Cell phone is an Upstate South Carolina (864) area code with no link to California at all.
Did not fall for the scam, but wished to report it as soon as possible, for both my own, and others' conveniences.
Another scam that a separate Upstate SC phone - belonging to a friend who lives with us - received today is the good, old 'Best Buy $1000 Gift Card" scheme. This message originated from (804) 385-5797 [Virginia].
Both smishing scheme texts were recieved on the same day (11/18). A little searching led here, and I decided to file a complaint.
