I received an e-mail from a Mr. Jeremy Summers telling me I won $950,000.00 in an online endowment lottery (which I never entered). He asked for some basic info (name, address, phone number) which I gave him.
First he said I needed to come to London to pick up the check. I wrote him back and said that was not possible.
Then he told me I should prepare for the courier service to deliver me the check and take a picture for publicity purposes. That e-mail told me it would take $500 or so pounds (what that translates to in US dollars I don't know) that I had to pay.
I know this is an out and out scam, but after going to the Microsoft Endowment Fund website and therein going to the lottery scam link, I see your good name is being used multiple times in such scams.
I think you need to add this particular name (Microsoft Online Endowfund Fund) and this particular person (Jeremy Summers) to your list of scammers using the good name of Microsoft.
Just a heads' up so it doesn't somehow come back to bite you on your behind.
Sincerely,
Linda Abramson
