Sandy knocked out power to my area on Monday. After calling the Mayor of Hempstead and Governor of NY, LIPA finally sent out tree crews to remove the some ten trees blocking my streets three days later. The tree crew cut the wires to my home (power, cable, phone) even though none were down. The power was restored to my area by Friday, but have not been able to get LIPA to reconnect mine and five other homes on my block. And now, due to the snow storm, they are telling me between now and Saturday. I've never seen such horrible customer response. We've been calling them every day and are not making head way. Some of my neighbours have small children, some are elderly. It wouldn't take more than an hour to reconnect us.
