Strike It Rich VIII Sweepstakes
Corporately and Socially Unresponsible

I have continuously received letters from this Strike It Rich Sweepstakes VII, about 3 or 4 letters came and the last letter I just received in October stated that this is a Final Notification Document but also stated there was no purchase necessary to enter. I thought to myself let me call and see what this is all about. The woman on the phone asked me for my ID number which is in the first paragraph of the letter, then she went on to tell me about the sweepstakes and wished me lots of luck. She asked how I wanted my payout and I said I would take the yearly installments. Then she started her sales pitch under 60 seconds in efforts to get me to subscribe to their magazines which happen to be by National Magazine Exchange, an exclusive sponsor for the sweepstakes. I declined there offer and the woman continued to offer me more magazines, but I still declined those offers as well. She then asked me what magazines I liked, I told her, and then she actually pitched the same magazine titles as before while quickly trying to close the deal by saying pick 3. I still said no, but this time, I stopped her and asked why does this notification state that there is no purchase necessary, but you still keep trying to sell me these magazines. She then said, " No you don't have to purchase any thing these are just promotions, you said no, so we can move on". We did move on to more offers and promotions via a recorded message, which I declined all of them. When the recording was at the end, it wished me luck on the sweepstakes and disconnected the call. I decided to call back just to see if I was entered in the so called sweepstakes and a woman answered again who sounded like the same woman I has spoken to previously. I gave my ID number and she said you have been entered in the sweepstakes already mam and good luck. I urgently told her wait, I want to ask a few questions. I asked when the winner would be announced and what's the idea behind all those promotions they are trying to get people to get by using their credit cards. She said, " We are just doing what the sweepstakes wants us to do and she hung up.

So although I did not subscribe to those magazines I have done this before with another company about 10 years ago that kept charging my credit card over and over again. I did get some of my money back when I called them and kept threatening to get a lawyer to investigate them.in my opinion this is the same scam. I have read Report: #429014 and this is the same way the company ripped me off. The sweepstakes kept telling me that three magazines would only cost me $1.29 per week but if you look at the charges that were endured from the report #429014, they are over and beyond that. One thing to know is that sponsors use other businesses to advertise and get sales but it seems to me like this National Magazine Exchange is behind this whole scam. I am going to continue my research on the company and will give any additional information that may be helpful to anyone. I am fed up with companies that indulge into unfair practices to get consumers money and offering false hope.
