I am an attorney in Los Angeles and have been practicing for over 20 years. Jeff Lenkov is known in the immediate legal community by many as an arrogant and ineffective lawyer who uses abusive language and unprofessional demeanor to "try" to advance his case.
The story reported here about the injured person of color and Jeff Lenkov's racist behavior and abusive language is typical of Lenkov.
I represented a client who was a U.S. Citizen, but had a foreign accent, as a Plaintiff with a claim for a serious injury against a company who had decided to retain Lenkov to defend the lawsuit.
Lenkov shamelessly and repeatedly made fun of the Plaintiff's accent, called her names and accused everyone including the plaintiff lawyers involved of pursuing a fraudulent case before even knowing the details involved.
Lenkov also resorted to all kinds of unethical and inappropriate behavior during the course of litigation, such as name-calling, character assassination, baseless threats and filing paperwork with the court at every chance, where the issues could have been easily resolved by way of a meet and confer letter.
After years of litigation and charging his client, Lenkov offered more to settle the same claim than what the case would have settled for initially had Lenkov had the foresight and a professional approach in litigating the case, all to the detriment of his client.
I would think twice before retaining Lenkov as a defense lawyer. He has a deservingly bad reputation and is a disgrace to the legal community.
