This is a scam. The scam is exactly as described on the FTC web site: http://business. Ftc. Gov/documents/alt024-throwing-book-business-directory-scams 1) They called, just a free call to verify business location for a free Yellow Pages ad. I actually told them that I did not want an ad. 2) They called months later, and spoke with my son, while he was home alone, trying to do his math homework. Each time he hung up, they called back, and were increasingly abusive and threatening. They told him that if he did not "verify" information, the business owner would have a very large bill to pay. He felt badgered into answering their questions. He merely verified our address and phone number as well as my email address. When they asked him to authorize a $599 ad in the yellow pages, he said, "no, " and hung up. He did not answer the phone when they tried to call back. 3) Today, they called six times, threatening collection agencies, and court a subpoena to a hearing in a NYC court if I did not pay TODAY. They even offered a $200 discount if I gave them my credit card today... Only $686.95 They played a recording of my son verifying our contact information and authorizing the $599 ad in the yellow pages. This is definitely a scam. They call me incessantly. They are abusive and threatening. The person calling claims his name is Richard Ross, of Online Public YellowPages.
